Halloween 2018 in Kokura, Kitakyushu Japan! WATCH UNTIL THE END, SOMEONE HAS A SPECIAL MESSAGE FOR KEVIN DURANT OF THE GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS. #kokurahalloween #kokurahalloween2018 #kitakyushu
Halloween was on a Wednesday this year, so everyone went Trick or Treating on Sunday, October 28th, 2018. Didn't think I would see much but I am glad I went out to Uomachi that night 😂 Everyone had amazing costumes and a great Halloween attitude.
The pink dude who likes the Spurs, if you see this get in touch with me 😂
Buta no Mura has the best tonkatsu ramen in the world. Located in Kamiyoshida in Kitakyushu, this place impressed me before I ever walked through the door. I was at the Kitakyushu Ramen Championship this year and took a chance on his shop because he was located in Kokuraminami Ward. His soup blew me away. If he was able to bring THAT flavor to a festival, imagine what he cooks up in his actual restaurant.
His tonkotsu soup is so thick and creamy and loaded with collagen. It doesn't have a weird funky smell or aftertaste, it is PERFECT. The festival version was VERY GOOD but it pales in comparison to the real thing. I really don't want to look for a better ramen. I don't think it exists. If I were to ever eat ramen somewhere else, it's only because I couldn't get to Buta no Mura.
The karaage and fried rice are also top notch. After 5pm the other half of Buta no Mura operates as a karaage take-out window. I can see why, their karaage stands on its own! It is very good. Nakatsu style karaage. The karaage is so crunchy and juicy.
Are you wondering what to eat in Kitakyushu? Then I want you to come visit this shop. Come to Buta no Mura and tell Murakami-san that I sent you. Tell him Chris Sakura from Youtube sent you.
Because the very best tonkotsu ramen will not be found in a national chain store. It is going to be found right here in Kitakyushu's Kokuraminami Ward. This is the best ramen in Kitakyushu. Made with love at Buta no Mura.

Eating the best Karaage in Japan with the Chikifam. Nakatsu karaage is probably the best karaage in the world. Nakatsu is the "City of Fried Chicken" in Japan and for good reason. BECAUSE IT'S GOOD. No matter where you go in Nakatsu, it is going to be BOMB. The first time I ever had Nakatsu Karaage was out of a shack in Kitakyushu and even there it was HELLA GOOD.
I PROMISE YOU that you will not be disappointed by Nakatsu Karaage.
On the way back from Sugao no Taki, Lexi spotted a trail leading up to a building and we decided to check it out. I didn't know at the time but this Buddhist temple is called Myohoji (妙法寺). It looks like it might be abandoned. I searched for hours trying to find more info about this place, there is zero information, even search Japanese sources. We took a quick look around and afterwards we went to Round One in Kokura to escape the rain. The Spocha at Round One is really nice.
Sugao Waterfall, or Sugao no Taki is a popular 30m tall waterfall located in Kokuraminami Ward in Kitakyushu. People come to the Sugao no Taki waterfall during the summer to escape the sweltering heat. Sugao no Taki is also a well known "power spot" where spiritual energy is known to concentrate. I was once told that Sugao no Taki was a place where people go to commit suicide but we didn't see any evidence of that. That sucks, because I wanted to see a dead body and get my own Logan Paul moment.
The original meaning of Sugao means "bare faced" as in without makeup. The water coming down from the waterfall was supposedly so fierce that it would strip away a girl's makeup. I bet the water rushes down really hard during the Spring and early Summer after the snows melt. We hiked up to Sugao no Taki in late October 2018 and there wasn't much force behind the falls.
I just wish I had brought better shoes so I could get up to the upper level of the waterfall. I bet you can feel the makeup cleansing effect much better from up close.
My boy Matsukaze, the number one Youtuber in Himeji finally hit a huge milestone!! In the latest video, he says goodbye to one of his partners on the channel, Myujin, who is going to pursue his dreams in Fukuoka. I congratulate both of them by drinking 3 Strong Zero back to back. They also changed the name of their channel to Uma no Hone.
The original video from the Chikifam channel was a single take, I decided to make this one a little bit shorter. Originally uploaded November 12th, 2018 on the Chikifam channel.
